30 for 30 Shorts: ‘Untucked’

Our latest film, from actor Danny Pudi, tells the story of how a controversial jersey design helped lead a team to a national title

Welcome back to our 30 for 30 documentary short series.

Marquette University’s men’s basketball team won its only national championship in 1977 — and did it wearing famously untucked jerseys. Commissioned by legendary coach Al McGuire, this subtly subversive uniform was designed by player and art major Bo Ellis. The jersey would later be banned by the NCAA, but this story tells how the power of a uniform allowed a championship team to flourish.
