Jake Rudock starts at quarterback for Michigan in season opener

College Football, Michigan Wolverines

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- The suspense concerning Michigan's starting quarterback is over.

Senior Jake Rudock started for the Wolverines on Thursday night in the opener against Utah. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh had kept his decision on who would start a secret all preseason.

Rudock, a graduate transfer from Iowa, started 25 games for the Hawkeyes and battled junior Shane Morris for the Wolverines' starting job. Harbaugh said this week that both players knew who would be taking the first snap against the Utes, but Harbaugh didn't feel a need to let anybody outside the Michigan program know.
