Matt Jones snags money on field during game

LANDOVER, Md. -- Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones found more than daylight on a number of his runs and receptions Sunday. He also found $15.

While getting ready to break the huddle on the first drive of the second half, Jones spotted a couple bills rolled up on the ground by wide receiver Pierre Garcon's feet. Garcon picked the money up, put it in his pants and later handed a $10 and a $5 to someone on the sideline for safekeeping during the Redskins' 47-14 win over the New Orleans Saints.

"I happened to look down, and there was $15 by Pierre's feet, and I was like, 'Look, Pierre, you got money there,'" Jones said. "I've never seen that on the field. I don't know who had that. We were laughing so hard, and we definitely came to the sidelines and everyone was like, 'Where did you get $15 from?' It was just sitting there rolled up."

Nobody knew where the money came from, nor was there any time to find out. But Jones could consider it just more good fortune on a day when the Redskins had plenty. Their offense was, well, money all day.

Washington gained 514 total yards with quarterback Kirk Cousins completing 20 of 25 passes for 324 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He posted a perfect passer rating of 158.3.

The defense earned its payday too by holding the Saints to 14 points. New Orleans gained 166 of its 350 yards on two drives.

The run game worked for the first time in a long time as the Redskins rushed for 213 yards. Jones gained 56 yards rushing and 131 receiving with a touchdown.

But what made him smile after the game was the $5 clutched in his hands.

"Pierre was like, 'You want half of this?'" Jones said. "I was like, 'Just give me $5 out of it.' ... A finder's fee."
