More than 300 hours of live coverage across ESPN TV networks (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes)

ESPN’s unprecedented coverage of UEFA European Football Championship 2016 across 10 cities in France will begin on Friday, June 10, with the opening match — France vs. Romania — live on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN from Stade de France in Paris at 2 p.m. ET.  Beyond its exclusive presentation in English and Spanish in the United States, ESPN is also the television home of UEFA EURO 2016 in the Caribbean and in India via SONY ESPN channels.

UEFA EURO 2016 (June 10 – July 10), will be the company’s most comprehensive coverage of this quadrennial event, which has increasingly grown each year as European soccer has increased its foothold in the sports marketplace in the United States.  ESPN television networks will carry more than 300 live hours of UEFA EURO 2016 content combined during the competition. ESPN televised all 31 matches in 2008 and 2012. This summer, the event was expanded to 24 teams – leading to 51 matches. Highlights:

UEFA EURO 2016 match coverage:

  • ESPN – 39 matches; and ESPN2 – 12 matches
  • ESPN Radio – semifinals and final
  • ESPN Deportes – all 51 matches (45 Live)
  • ESPN Deportes Radio – all 51 matches in Spanish
  • WatchESPN – stream all 51 matches in English and Spanish
  • ESPN3 Surround – four dedicated channels with exclusive streams for each match

PREGAME, HALFTIME AND POSTGAME SEGMENTS

ESPN match telecasts for the UEFA European Football Championship will include pregame, halftime and postgame studio segments.

  • ESPN/ESPN2: Every ESPN and ESPN2 match will feature a 30-minute pregame, halftime and a postgame shows;
  • ESPN Deportes: The Spanish-language home of the UEFA European Football Championship 2016 in the United States will provide comprehensive coverage every match day beginning with a 30-minute pre-game edition of Fuera de Juego, a halftime show, in-between match programming, and exclusive television presentation of Jorge Ramos y Su Banda immediately following the last match of the day;
  • UEFA EURO Report: UEFA EURO Report, a 30-minute program, will generally air at 2 p.m. in-between matches and recap the earlier match and previewing the day’s last match;
  • UEFA EURO Tonight: UEFA EURO Tonight will air each match day on ESPN or ESPN2 throughout the tournament and will wrap up each day’s action with updated news and analysis;
  • Jorge Ramos y Su Banda: The popular program will anchor ESPN Deportes television coverage throughout the competition. Host Jorge Ramos will present a two-hour TV edition of the popular ESPN Deportes Radio program each match day. While the show will be heavy on UEFA EURO 2016 content, it will also feature key storylines and interviews with reporters on other continental soccer events.

SportsCenter:

SportsCenter will feature expanded UEFA EURO 2016 content with segments originating from Paris. ESPN’s flagship news and information program will air between morning matches (11-11:30 a.m.) on days with three matches.

ESPN FC: Dan Thomas (host) and a rotating panel of pundits – Shaka Hislop, Paul Mariner, Brain McBride, Alejandro Moreno, et al – will review daily UEFA EURO 2016 matches, as well as soccer news across Europe and other continental soccer events.

Commentators:

ESPN’s match and studio commentators represent one of the best collections of experienced soccer experts anywhere in the world led by three FIFA World Cup champions – Mario Kempes (1978), Frank Lebeouf (1998) and Mauro Camoranesi (2006).

ESPN Digital Platforms:

ESPN digital platforms will present exclusive programming and comprehensive coverage from UEFA EURO 2016. This multiplatform approach will share resources and complement coverage between WatchESPN, ESPN3, ESPNFC.com, ESPNDeportes.com and ESPN.com editions in the U.S., UK, India and Australia. Aspects of ESPN’s coverage, analysis and video will also appear on the recently launched ESPN section of QQ Sports in China. Highlights:

  • ESPN FC will feature a new slate of digital-exclusive shows accessible across platforms worldwide. They include Morning EURO, a daily multimedia digital morning show where fans can get the latest news and updates from EURO 2016; On the Road with Alison Bender, a daily evening program covering the top storylines from EURO 2016, exclusive interviews and in-depth features focusing on the culture, landmarks and people of France; EURO After Dark: a daily after show featuring ESPN FC analysts continuing the conversation from the tournament across digital platforms; and The Sweeper, which highlights of the biggest stories trending on social media;
  • com, ESPN.com and ESPNDeportes.com will present analysis and insight from ESPN FC writers Gabriele Marcotti, Chris Jones, Iain Macintosh, John Brewin, Miguel Delaney, Wright Thompson and others. In addition, ESPN Deportes’ Jordi Blanco will be following Spain throughout the tournament, and Sebastian Christensen will be onsite presenting Spanish-language and bilingual reports and analysis;
  • An ESPNFC.com reporter will be present at each of the 51 matches, offering rapid reaction, deeper dives, second-day analysis and more;
  • A Team EURO Blog Network consisting of 24 bloggers will contribute posts on their views of the tournament from the unique lens of their home country.

ESPN3 Surround:

In the United States, ESPN3 Surround will deliver exclusive content tied to live events on ESPN linear networks, offering a companion experience in real-time that will complement the big game on television.  For UEFA EURO 2016, ESPN3 Surround will carry four different UEFA EURO 2016 streams for the matches – the Spidercam feed, the Spidercam triple-box feed, the Tactical Cam feed, and the Tactical Cam triple-box feed – offering fans alternate camera angles, experiences and stories around the game. On the four dates with simultaneous matches (June 19-22), the service will carry two alternate feeds for each match.

ESPN Social Media:

Chris Wondoloski (in France) and Lauren Giudice, in the U.S., will combine to lead the creation of shareable content for social activations across ESPN FC handles on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, et al – focusing on the amplification of pre- and post-match events throughout the tournament. Additional social media content will be available across ESPN domestic and international platforms such as @ESPN SportsCenter, English- and Spanish-language versions, ESPN Mexico, ESPN Brazil and more.

Its inaugural ad showcases sweeping shots of French landmarks interlaced with footage of some of the most iconic moments and players in the history of the tournament. Additional elements in the campaign include:

  • A video featuring Ian Darke, the inimitable voice of soccer and the centerpiece of ESPN’s coverage of EURO 2016, auditioning for The Championships, Wimbledon.
  • A series of 24 artistic posters designed by French artist Florian Nicolle representing each country competing in the tournament.

ESPN Caribbean will also carry UEFA EURO Tonight, a 30-minute news and analysis show recapping the day’s matches and looking ahead to the next day generally at 7:30 p.m.

SONYESPN, SONYESPN HD, SONYSIX and SONYSIX HD – official television home for UEFA EURO 2016 in India and the Indian subcontinent:

  • Football Extraaa, the pre-match, halftime and post-match program, will feature host Joe Morrison and a collection of legendary players such as: Deco (Portugal), Robbie Fowler and David James (England), Sunil Chhetri (India), and Ronald de Boer (Netherlands);
