Who would Detroit Lions players choose to be in their boy bands?

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Music is important in sports.

Players use it to warm up. The Detroit Lions use it during practice. There are different styles, too -- gospel, rap, country, pop and everything in between.

While not necessarily a locker-room favorite, one type of band is analogous to how sports franchises are put together -- boy bands.

From the Monkees and Menudo to Boyz II Men, the Backstreet Boys, *NSync, 98 Degrees and now One Direction, boy bands have been around popular music forever. And in many of them, personalities differ. Sometimes they are brought together by circumstance rather than choice.

Kind of like an NFL locker room.

With that in mind, we asked some Lions players who would be in their boy bands in this edition of Question of the Week.

QB Dan Orlovsky: "Yeah, I’d be top of the list for myself. Sam Martin, maybe, strictly as -- we’d probably lip sync Sam, though. Maybe Caraun [Reid] because Caraun can legit sing. Eric [Ebron] because Eric would be controversial and would just say stuff and whatnot. Those would be my guys."

CB Darius Slay: "I know, see, I got to have somebody who feels my music. Can’t go with Shean [Rashean Mathis] because he don’t listen to my music. I got to turn up, though. Got to have a big guy, so either Ty [Tyrunn Walker] or Zig [Ezekiel Ansah] will be my big guy. I’m mostly the most attractive one, so I got to be the lead singer. I’m the Beyonce of the group. But other than that, probably just, I gotta take little Diggs with me, Quandre [Diggs] And maybe DeAndre [Levy]. You all don’t believe, but Levy knows a lot of music and I think he might be my drum guy."

DE Devin Taylor: "[Darryl] Tapp's going to be my vocalist."

Rothstein: Can he sing?

Taylor: "He’s going to just be the vocalist, all the little random noises, like the keyboard, that’s going to be him. I’ll probably have Caraun and someone else sings as well in this locker room. They would be my actual singers. I would probably make like [Jason Jones], [Andre Fluellen] my rappers if there was any kind of talking, rapping portions. I would be on bass, bass guitar because it’s a different groove playing bass. I would have [Don Muhlbach] as my drummer."

Rothstein: Does he actually play the drums?

Taylor: I don’t know if he does or not, but he looks like he just fits that mold of a drummer for my particular band. And then I need a guitarist. Probably Larry Warford."

WR TJ Jones: "I’m going to go with, boy band, Slay is definitely in that. That’s the character. Probably going to throw, got to throw Caraun in there. He’s a singer. And probably have Lance [Moore] for the old, smooth old-man flow. And me. I’m not going to start a boy band without me in it. That’s the whole point of starting one is to be in one."

P Sam Martin: "Golden [Tate], [Matthew] Stafford, Dan Orlovsky, [Matt] Prater and Haloti [Ngata]. Well, I don’t know. Dan’s got the boy-band look going. So does Stafford, kinda. Prater can be funny. Haloti would be the remix guy who does dances and stuff and Golden’s just one of my good friends who I think would be entertaining. He’s good at touchdown dances. I’d throw Ebron in there, too."
