Arkansas RB Juan Day suffers ACL injury

Redshirt freshman Juan Day had surgery Monday on a torn ACL that he suffered in the team’s last practice before spring break. Arkansas coach Bret Bielema announced the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

This is Day’s second ACL tear in less than years. He tore the ACL in his opposite knee in 2013, forcing him to miss the majority of his senior season at North Little Rock (Arkansas) High School. As a junior, he rushed for 913 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The former three-star recruit was expected to be next in line for carries behind Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be cleared to play by the beginning of the season. The injury, coupled with Korliss Marshall's decision to transfer, leaves the Razorbacks a tad thin at the running back position.
