Avisail Garcia scratched with knee soreness

CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia was a late scratch from Friday night’s starting lineup with inflammation in his right knee.

Garcia had been bothered by knee discomfort since last weekend’s series at Oakland. He was even removed in the 10th inning from Monday night’s victory over the Cleveland Indians because of knee pain. He didn’t miss a start, though, until Friday.

J.B. Shuck took over in right field for Garcia, getting just his sixth start of the year. It was his second start in right field.

Garcia entered play Friday night 10th in the American League in batting average (.319) and multi-hit games. (15). He had been swinging a hot bat through the Oakland series but was just 1 for 14 this week in four games against the Indians.
