Source: Hawks haven't asked Patrick Kane about waiving no-move clause

NHL, Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks have not asked forward Patrick Kane whether he would be willing to waive his no-move clause in order for him to be traded, a source close to Kane said Wednesday.

Kane, 26, is under investigation for an incident that allegedly occurred at his home in Hamburg, New York. The investigation is of an alleged sexual assault, The Buffalo News has reported. The Chicago Sun-Times recently reported at least five teams have contacted the Blackhawks about Kane's availability since the allegations came out last month.

Kane and Jonathan Toews agreed last summer to matching eight-year, $84 million contract extensions with the Blackhawks. The deals are set to go into effect this upcoming season. The contracts include no-move clauses, which prevent a team from trading, loaning or waiving a player without consent.

Kane has 205 goals and 352 assists in 576 career NHL regular-season games over eight seasons with the Blackhawks. He had 11 goals and 23 points in 23 playoff games last season while helping the Blackhawks to their third Stanley Cup in six seasons.

The Blackhawks are set to open training camp Sept. 17 at the University of Notre Dame.
