100 days, 100 players: No. 3 Vernon Hargreaves III

In the 100 days leading up to signing day 2015, RecruitingNation will be looking back at our ESPN recruiting rankings from 2006 to the present and count down the best player of the past 10 years at each ranking position, No. 100 to No. 1.

Vernon Hargreaves III, No. 3 in 2013 class

Hargreaves III was considered the top cornerback in the country in 2013 class coming out of Wharton High in Tampa. The son of Arkansas linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves picked the Florida Gators in July 2012 over USC, Clemson, Miami and a host of others after considering more than 50 offers. He headlined a top 10 Florida 2013 class that included Kelvin Taylor, Keanu Neal, Daniel McMillan, Roderick Johnson, Marcell Harris Alex Anzalone, Demarcus Robinson and others.

Hargreaves III has been a star in college football from the beginning of his career in Gainesville. He started 10 games as a freshman in 2013, making 38 tackles and three interceptions and earning All-SEC first-team by the league coaches, All-SEC Freshman team and numerous Freshman All-American teams.

As a sophomore, Hargreaves III was again selected All-SEC first-team after totaling 50 tackles, 13 pass breakups, three INT’s and two tackles for loss in 12 starts. He was also tabbed AP All-American second-team and firs-team All-American by several media outlets.

Entering the 2015 season, the pure cover corner is expected to be named to almost every preseason All-American team, and he's very likely to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.

Honorable mention: Dominique Easley, No. 3 in 2010 class. Easley battled knee injuries at Florida, but was still dominant at times. He was selected No. 29 overall in the 2014 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. Cyrus Kouandjio, No. 3 in 2011 class. After starting starting his last two seasons at Alabama, Kouandjio chose to forgo his final season in Tuscaloosa and was drafted in the second round (No. 44 overall) in the 2014 NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. Dorial Geen-Beckham, No. 3 in 2012 class. Green-Beckham played two seasons at Missouri before being dismissed from the program. Following a transfer season at Oklahoma, he decided to forgo remaining eligibility and enter the 2015 NFL Draft where he is expected to be drafted in the first two rounds. Cam Robinson, No. 3 in 2014 class. Robinson started all season as a freshman at Alabama, and is considered a top-notch NFL prospect following the 2016 season.
