Thomas Robinson bound for Brooklyn

Thomas Robinson is finally a Brooklyn Net. The fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft agreed to a two-year deal with the Nets at the veteran's minimum, with a player option for the second year.

Robinson confirmed as much in a series of tweets posted Thursday:

The Nets have been fond of Robinson since his days at Kansas, and identified the power forward as one of their main targets in free agency. The Nets intended to sign Robinson to a 10-day contract last season after he had been waived by the Denver Nuggets, who acquired Robinson in the midseason trade that sent Arron Afflalo to Portland. But they never got the chance, as the Philadelphia 76ers claimed Robinson off waivers.

Robinson, 24, averaged 8.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in 22 games for the 76ers.

Robinson (6-foot-10, 237 pounds) brings length and athleticism to the Nets. With the departure of Mason Plumlee via trade, Robinson should be given an opportunity to get backup minutes in the frontcourt behind starters Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young.

The Nets will be the fifth team Robinson has played for since entering the league with the Sacramento Kings in the 2012-13 season.
