Mel Kiper Jr. has Detroit Lions going defense in first mock draft

The Detroit Lions draft needs are somewhat obvious.

The team needs help on both lines -- no matter how many of their own free agents they bring back and who they go after in free agency. They potentially need a running back, wide receiver and cornerback, too.

But the biggest priority is on the lines, where Detroit has Dominic Raiola and Rob Sims as free agents on offense, and Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley, C.J. Mosley, George Johnson, Darryl Tapp, and Andre Fluellen as free agents on defense.

Though a lot can change, ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has Detroit looking to the defensive line with the No. 23 selection in his first mock draft, and it is a player that makes sense for the Lions on multiple levels at defensive tackle.

Malcolm Brown is a player who has been good against the run and healthy in his career. None of these players will be Suh -- those guys don't come around in every draft -- but he would be a good start to replacing Suh or a complement to him if Detroit re-signs Suh or uses the franchise tag or transition tag to keep him.
