Chris Paul no longer on minutes restriction

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is no longer on a minutes restriction, coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday.

Paul played 35 minutes in the Clippers' 124-103 loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, finishing with 22 points and 10 assists. It was the most minutes Paul has played in a game since suffering a strained left hamstring in Game 7 of the Clippers' first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs. It was also the most comfortable Paul has looked on the floor since he suffered the injury, which was perhaps the only bright spot of an otherwise forgettable night for the Clippers.

Paul, who is no longer listed on the team's injury list, will start Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Rockets, but Rivers said he will still keep a close eye on Paul's body language.

"I always worry because you're one step away," Rivers said Wednesday. "There is no minute restriction, per se. I didn't like how he played or any of us played. I thought we played with no pace, basically the entire game. We didn't start our offense until 10 or 12 seconds [into possessions]. They owned our space all night. I didn't like anything we did on offense. We have to improve that."

The Clippers are nursing other injuries going into Thursday's game: Austin Rivers suffered a bruised right hip late in Game 5, Matt Barnes has been dealing with a sore right shoulder and Glen "Big Baby" Davis has been dealing with a sprained left ankle and foot. All three players are expected to play Thursday.
