Where the Detroit Lions' free agents currently stand

Here’s a look at where things stand for some of the Detroit Lions' free agents that actually made it to the initial free-agent period that started Tuesday.

Jed Collins, FB: Collins signed with Dallas this morning. The Lions are likely going to go with Emil Igwenagu at the position or at least a younger, cheaper option than Collins.

Rob Sims, LG: Sims has been waiting to see what Detroit does and still believes he has enough to be a solid contributor to a team. He’d like that to be the Lions, but with the franchise bringing in Justin Blalock for a visit Thursday that likely doesn’t bode well for Sims.

Ndamukong Suh, DT: Suh officially signed a six-year, $114 million deal with Miami on Wednesday. It is the largest contract ever for a defensive player.

Nick Fairley, DT: Fairley was in Cincinnati on Wednesday. He is rumored to be taking a trip to St. Louis as well. The Lions had been talking with his representatives over the weekend, but Yahoo! Sports and the Detroit Free Press have reported that Fairley won’t be back with the Lions.

C.J. Mosley, DT: It’s been pretty quiet on Mosley and MLive reported Thursday there have not been any talks lately between Mosley and the Lions about a return.

George Johnson, DE: Johnson was given an original round tender as a restricted free agent ($1.542 million). So far there has been no word if a team has inquired about him to try and sign him to a longer deal, forcing Detroit to decide whether to match.

Josh Bynes, LB: He re-signed with the Lions on a two-year deal Tuesday.

Rashean Mathis, CB: The Lions have said in the past they would like Mathis back, but nothing has happened yet.

Isa Abdul-Quddus, S: He re-signed with the Lions on a one-year, $1.5 million deal Tuesday.

Have not heard much on: TE Kellen Davis, C Dominic Raiola, OT Corey Hilliard, OL Garrett Reynolds, DT Andre Fluellen, LB Ashlee Palmer, CB Josh Thomas.
