SEC Week 8 helmet stickers: Laremy Tunsil shines in first game back

Here’s a look at the SEC’s best individual performances from Week 8:

Brandon Allen, QB, Arkansas: Through the first four quarters, Allen was having a decent day. He had thrown for 170 yards with one touchdown and one interception. But it was his play in the four overtimes that earned him a helmet sticker. With Arkansas down to its last gasp in both the first and third overtimes, the senior made a play. In all, he went 7 of 10 for 63 yards and two touchdowns in the extra time, leading the Razorbacks to a 54-46 win.

Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama: This could’ve gone to a number of players on Alabama’s front seven. Reggie Ragland led the team yet again with 12 tackles. Ryan Anderson made the play that sealed a 19-14 win over Tennessee. But Foster’s name was the one you kept hearing because he kept making plays. The junior linebacker finished with 11 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and a pass break-up. It was his best game since coming to Tuscaloosa.

Derek Mason, Vanderbilt: We don’t normally give helmet stickers to coaches, but Mason deserves one after Saturday’s 10-3 win over Missouri. It was his first-ever SEC win, and for a defensive-minded coach, he couldn’t have scripted it any better. Vanderbilt’s defense held Missouri to 188 total yards and 0 of 14 on third-down conversions. The Commodores have been much more competitive in Year 2 under Mason. Now they can finally enjoy a league victory.

Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State: When you take Prescott’s rushing ability from last season and combine it with his improved passing from this year, it’s scary what you get. We saw that first-hand Saturday in Mississippi State’s 42-16 win over Kentucky. Prescott threw for 348 yards, rushed for 117 yards and accounted for a career-high six touchdowns in one game. The only mistake he made was throwing an interception, his first of the season.

Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss: On paper, Texas A&M's Myles Garrett looks like he had a pretty good night Saturday -- seven tackles, two tackles for loss and the acrobatic interception that will make all the highlight reels. But take a second look and you’ll see Tunsil got the better of Garrett in their matchup. In his first game off suspension, Tunsil more than held his own against the SEC’s top pass-rusher and was a major reason why the Rebels dominated the Aggies 23-3. This is a different team when Tunsil is in the lineup.
