Complete Coverage of NCAA Baseball Championship Super Regionals Begins Friday

ESPN’s complete coverage of the 2015 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship – culminating more than 650 regular-season games and action from 11 conference tournaments – will continue with the Super Regionals Friday, June 5, to Monday, June 8.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise every game of the eight best-of-three Super Regionals (up to 24 games) with each site winner advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. For the 13th straight year, ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise the entire College World Series (up to 17 games), including the best-of-three College World Series Finals. ESPN’s 36th consecutive College World Series will begin June 13 and conclude June 24. Every NCAA Division I Baseball Championship game will also be available on WatchESPN.

Highlights:

  • The four teams with the most all-time Super Regional appearances advanced to the round this season, led by record-holder Florida State at 14. Cal State Fullerton is second with 12, followed by LSU and Miami at 11 each (tied with South Carolina).
  • Five of the seven SEC teams in the field advanced to the Super Regionals (Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt), the most of any conference. Four of the seven from the ACC advanced (Florida State, Louisville, Miami and Virginia) followed by the Big Ten with two (Illinois and Maryland).
  • VCU, playing in its first Super Regionals, became only the fifth No. 4 seed to reach the Super Regionals since 1999 with its victory in the Dallas Regional. Two of the previous four advanced to the College World Series (Stony Brook in 2012 and Fresno State in 2008).
  • Former ACC foes Maryland and Virginia – two of the three No. 3 seeds to advance to the Super Regionals, along with Louisiana-Lafayette – will square off in the Super Regionals for the second consecutive post-season.
  • Two teams – Illionis and VCU – won a Regional for the first time in school history.
  • All four finalists for the 2015 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award will play in the Super Regionals: Arkansas outfielder Andrew Benintendi, LSU shortstop Alex Bregman, Vanderbilt pitcher Carson Fulmer and Vanderbilt shortstop Dansby Swanson.
