Matthew Stafford was the first draft pick of Martin Mayhew's run as the general manager of the Detroit Lions. As the quarterback of the franchise over the past six seasons, Stafford has been at times brilliant and at other times inconsistent as an NFL quarterback.

But would the Lions draft him again if they got a re-do of the 2009 draft?

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. re-drafted the 2009 draft and came up with the same conclusion Detroit did back in 2009 -- he had the Lions taking Stafford (again) with the No. 1 pick in the draft. To check out the whole re-draft of the first round, look here.

There are a bunch of interesting nuggets and selections in Kiper's re-draft, but here's one thing that stood out. Four current Lions ended up in Kiper's first round re-draft of 2009. Two of them were actually taken by Detroit in the first round -- Stafford and tight end Brandon Pettigrew. But linebacker DeAndre Levy and safety Glover Quin have played well enough in their careers to warrant being in the first round of Kiper's re-draft.

Kiper has Levy at No. 14 to New Orleans, Quin at No. 22 to New Orleans and Pettigrew at No. 26 to Green Bay. Pettigrew, of course, was taken by the Lions at No. 20. Quin was drafted with the No. 112 overall pick by Houston and Levy was taken by the Lions in the third round at No. 76.

If you're curious who Kiper took with the Lions' No. 20 pick? That's linebacker James Laurinaitis -- a player the Lions could have chosen at No. 20 if they wanted to at the time since he ended up going at No. 35.
