Pac-12 quarterback power rankings: Kevin Hogan is on a roll

It's time to look at the top quarterback performers after another week of Pac-12 play. We'll revisit this ranking each Monday. Remember that we're weighing the past weekend's performance more heavily than an overall season track record, so expect some variation here every week.

1. Kevin Hogan, Stanford: He delivered a virtually flawless performance on a bad ankle in the Cardinal's 55-17 romp over Arizona. Hogan's 89.4 completion percentage (17-of-19) was the best of his career, and several of his throws popped on film. One dart down the seam to Devon Cajuste really stood out: Hogan evaded pressure by moving forward in the pocket and rifled a precise laser downfield while shuffling.

After a career-worst performance to open the season in Stanford's 16-6 loss to Northwestern, Hogan has become the only quarterback in the country to average over 11 yards per attempt in four consecutive games. He's playing the most efficient football of his career while not even having his usual running threat available. If Hogan's ankle heals during this bye week, he can reintroduce another dimension to his game.

2. Jared Goff, California: He leads the Pac-12 with 1,630 yards and 15 touchdown passes after tossing four more in the Golden Bears' 34-28 win over Washington State. But that's not new knowledge. We already knew of Goff's status as a statistical machine, but the particularly impressive facet of his game this year is a propensity to deliver in clutch, must-convert situations. A week after barreling his way to the game-sealing fourth down conversion at Washington, Goff drove a stake through Wazzu's heart with some pinpoint third down passing Saturday.

Now, the going gets tougher for the 5-0 Bears. Utah sports a rugged defensive front seven, and playing in the teeth of the Rice-Eccles Stadium crowd is no cakewalk. We'll see how successfully Goff takes his show on the road.

3. Mike Bercovici, Arizona State: The Sun Devils had been sputtering in all facets of the game, so they badly needed this pick-me-up at the Rose Bowl. Bercovici finished 27-of-44 for 273 yards and two touchdowns in ASU's 38-23 triumph over UCLA. He also rushed for another score, ultimately posting numbers that weren't gaudy -- but certainly more than good enough to do the trick alongside some powerful Kalen Ballage running.

The Sun Devils host Colorado next week, so Bercovici has a solid chance to remain on this list provided he maintains this level of play. A trip to Utah comes after that, so it won't be long before we find out if Bercovici's resurgence will be a consistent one. By the way, yesterday was the anniversary of the Jael Mary.

4. Luke Falk, Washington State: Falk has been the Pac-12's most accurate passer this year -- he's completing 72.6 percent -- and his 365 yards per game also the lead the conference. Alas, an overthrown interception late Saturday cost the Cougars a chance to win while they were trailing Cal by six later in the game.

Still, Falk is undoubtedly playing well. His Cougars are at an interesting crossroads: They're 2-2 entering this weekend's game at Oregon, which should be a fascinating measuring stick. The Ducks' secondary isn't good, and Falk must carve it up for Washington State to notch a potentially defining win.

5. Sefo Liufau, Colorado: Only eight Pac-12 teams played this past weekend, and one of them (Oregon) used two quarterbacks and threw rather sparingly, so we had to select two guys from losing teams to fill out this week's power rankings. Liufau gets the nod here -- his 25-for-42, 231-yard performance was decently productive, but Colorado ultimately ran out of gas. The 3-2 Buffs face the Arizona schools next, and Liufau is still hungry to notch that first conference win since 2013.
