Third Season of In the Game with Robin Roberts presented by Lexus Premieres September 4 on espnW

Series Opens with Dallas Cowboys Defensive End Michael Sam

The third season of espnW’s In the Game with Robin Roberts premieres on espnW.com today, Sept. 4, with an in-depth discussion with Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the NFL. The show, a series of intimate interviews with some of the most newsworthy athletes in sports today, is hosted by Roberts, a former ESPN SportsCenter anchor and current Good Morning America host.

This year marks the first season the series will be produced by Roberts’ newly launched Rock’n Robin Productions.  Lexus returns as a sponsor of the series for the third consecutive year.

“espnW is thrilled to again collaborate with Robin Roberts and Lexus on this venture,” said Laura Gentile vice president, espnW.  “Robin’s talent for interviewing and her background as an athlete combine to help create poignant storytelling.  She forges a unique connection with each athlete she interviews.”

Each episode of In the Game will focus on the athlete’s competitive life, as well as the aspects of their personal lives that contribute to their drive and competitive spirit on the field.  In addition to Sam, confirmed guests this year include:  boxer Laila Ali, Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy, former WNBA star and current NBA assistant coach Becky Hammon and U.S. Women’s National Team and National Women’s Soccer League star Sydney Leroux.
