Rivers rises on QB Big Board

As we approach the midway point of the 2014 NFL season, there has been historically good quarterback play. While it doesn't hurt that some of the all-time greats are still playing at a high level, the floor of QB play in the NFL is at an all-time high. And it shows both on film and in the numbers. Through six weeks of this season, the average Total QBR score for starters is 61.5, the highest in ESPN Stats & Information's data set (which runs back to 2006).

That makes ranking the top 32 QBs even more difficult (to see the preseason version, click here), but we'll give it a shot. Here is how every starting quarterback in the NFL stacks up on my QB Big Board.

A quick reminder on these rankings: They incorporate the full body of work for a quarterback's career, not just the first six games of this season. They are weighted toward 2014 play, but players such as Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have built up plenty of capital, and they aren't leaving the top 10 anytime soon.

Manning is playing like the No. 1 QB in the league and will soon surpass Brett Favre as the all-time touchdown leader. And he's making it look easy -- with 15 TD passes already, only three interceptions and a QBR of 85.2 (second in the NFL). I still don't see the arm strength he used to have on tape, but he has compensated by increasing his already terrific anticipation. He also proved in Week 3 in Seattle that he can have success against the one defense that gave him trouble last season.
