Tennessee makes switch to Nike, unveils new uniforms

With the Nike unveil on Wednesday, it must have felt like a holiday in the state of Tennessee. The Vols’ athletic department had been promoting the big day for months, and finally the school’s new uniforms, tailored by Nike to represent each individual sport, were put on display for the first time.

“We wanted to make sure we are innovative,” football coach Butch Jones said at the event. “We wanted to respect the great tradition we have at Tennessee and incorporate that with Nike.”

In case you missed the runway-style show that featured Joshua Dobbs, Jalen Hurd and Curt Maggitt as models, here’s a look at some of the new football uniforms.

It was clear Tennessee wanted to keep its tradition despite making the switch to Nike, as evident by the checkerboard stripe down each side of the pants and also on the back of the helmet.

The consensus favorite, though, seemed to be the new Smokey Grey alternate uniforms with a grey helmet to match.

And wait, there's more. Here are some additional photos of Tennessee's new uniforms. So what’s the verdict on the new Nike uniforms? Like or dislike?
