Phillip Hunt became one of the Detroit Lions first moves in free agency this offseason as the team grabbed the one-time Philadelphia Eagles defensive end earlier this week.

Hunt played in 22 games for the Eagles and had 15 tackles and three sacks. He was much more productive in the CFL, where he had 64 tackles and 19 sacks in two seasons for Winnipeg.

The Lions got him at a bargain, too. He signed a one-year deal with the club for $585,000 in base salary with no bonuses, meaning his cap charge is also $585,000. This was an easy signing for the Lions from a cap perspective. Among the team's defensive ends, he'll have less of a cap hit than Ezekiel Ansah ($5.071 million), Jason Jones ($3.983 million), Devin Taylor ($660,146) and Larry Webster ($585,146).

He'll likely be competing with the recently re-signed Darryl Tapp and others for a roster spot.
