Practice-rehab-practice for Aaron Rodgers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The sight of quarterback Aaron Rodgers headed to the training room during the early portion of Wednesday's practice apparently was not a sign that his strained left calf had taken a turn for the worse.

Instead, coach Mike McCarthy said it was part of the plan for Rodgers to receive treatment during the middle of the session.

Officially, the Green Bay Packers listed Rodgers as a limited participant in practice.

"He did all the pre-practice work, no-huddle and then we had a segment there in practice where he was able to get some rehab done and then he was back outside for the team stuff," McCarthy said after Wednesday's practice. "He basically got done what he needed to get done today, and he's getting better."

When asked whether Rodgers took snaps with the offense, McCarthy said: "Yeah, absolutely. He threw the ball around."

When Rodgers spoke with reporters on Tuesday, he said he thought he would be able to "move around well enough" during Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. Rodgers played through the injury last Sunday at Tampa Bay, but his mobility was limited.

Cornerback Davon House, who has a fractured right shoulder blade, did not practice although he was in uniform and appeared to go through a workout on. He was the only player on the roster that did not participate on Wednesday.

The Packers' only remaining practice before Sunday's game is Saturday morning. McCarthy gave the players the day off on Thursday for Christmas. They return to work on Friday but will not be on the practice field that day.

Here's the full injury report:

  • CB Davon House (shoulder, did not practice)

  • G T.J. Lang (ankle, limited participation)

  • LB Clay Matthews (biceps, limited participation)

  • OLB Mike Neal (abdomen, limited participation)

  • QB Aaron Rodgers (calf, limited participation)

  • G Josh Sitton (toe, limited participation)
