Morning Roar: A look at the Detroit Lions' tight end stats in 2014

Over the next two weeks, we'll be reviewing each position group for the Detroit Lions in multiple ways and Wednesday, we'll continue with the wide receivers.

Every morning as part of the Roar, we'll have a quick statistical breakdown of that position group (regular season only).

The Detroit Lions tight ends as a whole: The group was 30th in the NFL with 392 yards this season. The position group caught 41 passes -- 29th in the league. The tight ends had seven drops this year. Detroit was tied for 28th in the league in tight end touchdowns with two. The 77 total tight end targets were tied for 26th in the league. Detroit's tight ends dropped 9.1 percent of their targets -- second-worst in the league.

The tight ends as individuals:

Eric Ebron: Detroit's first round pick in 2014 had 25 catches for 248 yards and one touchdown. His 248 yards was 34th among tight ends in the league and the 25 catches were tied for 32nd in the league. He was targeted 48 times on 242 routes run. He had a 52.1 percent reception per target rate and was targeted on 19.8 percent of his routes.

Brandon Pettigrew: He was used mostly as a blocking tight end this season, catching 10 passes for 70 yards and no touchdowns. These were all career lows for Pettigrew and the first season in his career he didn't have at least two touchdown receptions. He was targeted 14 times -- the fourth consecutive season his targets from Matthew Stafford have dropped. He ran 203 routes, the lowest of his career. He caught 71.4 percent of passes thrown to him with only one drop. He was targeted on 6.9 percent of his routes, the first time in his career where he was targeted on less than 10 percent of his routes.

Joseph Fauria: The second-year tight end dealt with ankle injuries for the majority of the season, eventually landing him on injured reserve. He caught six passes for 74 yards and a touchdown this season on 54 routes. He was targeted 11 times, catching 54.5 percent of passes thrown to him. He was targeted on 20.4 percent of his routes. He had one drop.

Kellen Davis: He played in six games after first being signed right before the team's trip to London in Week 8. He caught no passes this season as primarily a blocking tight end. He was targeted three times on 44 routes.

Jordan Thompson: He spent most of the season on the practice squad but was active for two games. He caught no passes and was targeted once on seven routes. He dropped that pass.
