Bobby Johnson headed to the Oakland Raiders

The Detroit Lions appear to have kept their defensive coordinator, Teryl Austin, but are losing at least one coach who has an expiring contract.

Colleague Adam Caplan is reporting Bobby Johnson is headed to Oakland to be the Raiders' new tight ends coach.

Johnson was an assistant offensive line coach for Detroit in 2014, helping out offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn. He had been Detroit's tight ends coach in 2013 and helped then-rookie Joseph Fauria have a breakout rookie season.

The 41-year-old Akron, Ohio, native has been an offensive line or tight ends coach almost his entire career, beginning at Miami (Ohio) in 1999 and continuing through Indiana in college and then Buffalo, Jacksonville, and Detroit in the NFL.
