Practice Report: Lions mostly healthy before Chicago

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions held a short portion of their practice open to the media Wednesday and in that time, only two players were noticeably missing.

Not that LaAdrian Waddle or Nick Fairley were expected to be at Detroit's practice anyway.

The most interesting part of Lions' practice was where it was held. To help prep for potentially cold weather in Chicago on Sunday, the Lions went outside to practice instead of using their indoor field. It is the first time in more than a month Detroit practiced outdoors.

"The temperature [on Sunday] is going to be about what it is, similar to what we're going to face [Wednesday]," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. "You always have to deal with wind conditions outside and if you practice indoors, we don't have the wind. You've seen from previously when we've had to play in a little bit of cold weather we usually to open the doors and get the temperature the same.

"Obviously in this particular case we're going to go outside. The ground is not frozen or anything of that nature. We don't have to worry about the guys having issues with footing or any of those things so it's good for us to get out there."

Caldwell said he wasn't sure whether the team would practice inside or outside the rest of the week as they continue to prepare for the Bears.
