Millions Watch ESPN’s College Baseball Regionals Coverage

Greenville-Spartanburg, Louisville, New Orleans, Tulsa, Raleigh-Durham & Knoxville Most-Viewed Markets

ESPN’s record-setting coverage of all 16 sites of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Regionals – 100 games across ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3 from May 31 to June 3 – generated millions of viewers over the four days.

Overall, ESPN2 and ESPNU combined to reach 11,680,000 viewers for its game telecasts. In addition, fans watched more than 96,600,000 live and replay minutes of Regionals action on the ESPN3 and WatchESPN platforms. ESPN3’s coverage of LSU vs. Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday, June 2, is the network’s most-viewed NCAA baseball game, logging 136,000 unique viewers that watched over 11 million live minutes.

Greenville-Spartanburg was the highest-rated metered market for ESPN2’s Regional telecasts followed by Louisville, New Orleans, Tulsa, Raleigh-Durham and Knoxville. The top 10 was rounded out by Birmingham, Greensboro, Charlotte and Nashville. Richmond, Norfolk, Memphis, Phoenix and Buffalo were the 11 through 15 highest-rated markets.

ESPN’s 2013 college baseball season includes more than 270 regular-season and conference tournament games, and every NCAA Division I Baseball Championship contest for the first time. This year’s schedule of up to 153 Championship games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3 surpasses the previous high of a possible 83 scheduled contests last year. The additional games come from coverage of all 16 Regional sites, an increase over six sites in 2012, four in 2011 and two each of the previous six years.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise every game of the eight best-of-three Super Regionals (up to 24 games) beginning Friday, June 7. Each Super Regional winner will advance to the College World Series. For the 11th straight year, ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise the entire College World Series (up to 17 games), including the best-of-three College World Series Finals.
